Rude Old Man- Poem

I went to Art Class
wearing 155 chains and it was a blast
Mom said I was crazy,
Myself, I thought I was just lazy.
I bought the chains in Baltimore at only 21 years old
There must have been 160 stores, but most had mold
Some old man in one of the stores said, "gnocchi"
I said hahaha you must be cheesy
The old man told me Katie was a douch; for real!
My blue eyes told me the old man was trying to steal!
I knew my physics homework was important but why
try to steal my pizza as well? At least be sly!
Rachel, Roger, and Ronaldhin tried to take the old man home
But the old man said, "I live in Peru you gnome!
The old man said, "I am 25, weigh 160 and like Chinese food
We all thought that old man was rude.

Use Less Paper, Recycle

I don't understand why people use so much paper these days. It seems like everytime I see someone proofread their paper for english, or are viewing their artwork, they like to print things out. The thing they sometimes don't realize in they could do the same thing but on the computer. Most screens have higher resolutions, so you can kind of zoom out from the screen to see your work. I think people should do this and save paper, and save themselves some money on ink and paper.

The other thing I see people doing around campus is throwing plastic bottles and paper in the trash can. I don't see why they do this when there are so many recycling containers around the school. If they would just take the time to place these items in the recycling containers the world would be a bit better place.

Opinion of "Sonic Outlaws"

I thought Sonic Outlaws was a pretty crazy film. Seemed to me like the guys who made this film didn't really care who viewed the film and didn't seem to care about the law. Some scenes that really stood out to me were:

1. When a guy listens into a cell phone conversation. He uses a frequency finder to find a cell phone frequency and listens into a cell phone conversation. I don't understand why anyone would want to do this, but apparently this guy found it fun. I also don't think it should be legal to listen into other people's conversations without their approval. There should be some sort of privacy law passes to make it illegal to do that.

2. Jamming the airwaves to screw up the radio. The guys on the film were playing small clips on the radio that the radio station had not approved. They were tapping into phone calls and saying inappropriate things and just causing nonsensical things to happen. This just showed how immature they were.

3. Playing Casey Kasem outtakes over U2 music. They did this without permission from the band and were sued over it. They thought that it was outrageous they were being sued, but you can't just use someone else's work and put an outtake track over it and call it your own creative work.

I think these guys in the film were just acting like a bunch of children, this is something my friends would have thought was funny when I was in 5th grade. Grow up!

Response to "Collected Observations"

When I first toured the art gallery I didn't know what to think of the pieces. I thought they didn't even seem like art. Most of them looked like random pictures drawn from looking at people. They were particularly interesting to me because most of them didn't look like a piece of art had been created by an adult. One piece in particular was very interesting; I could not believe was in the gallery was a piece that looked like a giant spilled mess of brown water colors. If you looked closely at this you could see what looked to be lips in the spilled part. I went over and looked at the booklet with the artists’ biographies and was astonished at some of the prices for some of these pieces. I could not believe the asking prices for some of these “pieces of art.” Personally, I would rather put up something which was at least nice to look at. I personally didn’t like any of the work on display, but this is of personal preference, someone else might think some of the pieces are beautiful. Even though I thought these pieces of art were way over-valued in my eyes I can see why the prices may be so high. The artist who made the work obviously put a price tag on the work which is indicative of what they believed they should receive for their work. I can see why they may set the price high, because if and when they sell it, they may never see it again. My favorite piece in the exhibit was “Mute” by Dan Kempner. I felt like with all the different televisions he really looked at something hardly anyone ever thinks about, everyday occurrences. These occurrences included people cheering at a Ravens game, people in an airplane, and people studying in class. I thought this was very interesting, just looking at things people do on an everyday basis that we don’t take the time to look at. The last observation which I thought was interesting was the artwork on the pillars. I didn’t think this was artwork at all, but instead just a bunch of ramblings on the wall. None of it made any sense and I have no idea what the artist was trying to get me to understand about their work. I think this was a very interesting experience because the gallery was nothing like I expected and you really had to think about each piece to get any sort of meaning out of a piece.
